October 2017  Alan Frankel was a Keynote Speaker at the West Coast Retrovirus Meeting, Palm Springs, CA (Oct. 5-7)

October 2017  Alexander Marson was awarded a grant from the Gilead HIV cure grants program. This Gilead program is committed to provide $7.5 million to support five additional HIV cure research initiatives led by top academic institutions and focused on translational research and efficacy studies in preclinical models.  Dr. Marson's lab was selected for his proposal entitled: An Integrated CRISPR Platform to Discover Regulators of HIV Latency in Primary Human T Cell. 2016.   Yifan Cheng has been elected Chair of the Three-dimensional Electron Microscopy Gordon Conference, Hong Kong Chinese University, Hong Kong. 

December 2015.  Jennifer Doudna and Alex Marson were awarded (along with Peidong Yang from Berkeley) a Keck Foundation grant to develop new nanotechnology-based delivery systems for genome editing in human T cells

October 2015.  Jennifer Doudna (along with Emanuelle Charpentier and Philippe Horvath) was awarded the Massry Prize.

July 2015.  John Gross was an invited speaker at the 40th FEBS Conference: Biochemical Basis of Life, Berlin, GERMANY

July 2015.   Jennifer Doudna and Crispr are featured in a cover article in  Wired magazine.  

July 27, 2015.  Research by HARC-funded collaborator Alex Marson published in PNAS demonstrates Crispr in T cells, converts CXR4 protein on the surface of T cells, so genetically-modified cells are no longer prone to attack by HIV.  Read all about it in a feature in the Independent.  Dr. Marson is a recipient of a HARC Collaborative Opportunity Award.

June 24, 2015.   The Thermo-Fisher Scientific Proteomics Facility for Disease Target Discovery, directed by Nevan Krogan, opened today at the Gladstone Institutes (left), to accelerate targeted proteomics research using the most advanced mass spectrometry technologies.  Read more
