Env

The Env project, headed by Dr. Yifan Cheng, is aimed at determining structures of HIV-1 envelope glycoproteins (gp120/gp41 trimers) by single particle cryo-EM. Trimeric gp120/gp41 decorates the surface of viral particles and is intimately involved in the processes by which viruses recognize, bind to and enter target cells. It is also the primary target of HIV-1 neutralizing antibodies.
