Dr. Stroud studies a number of key biological processes, with the goal of understanding molecular mechanisms from a structural perspective, including structure-based drug design, the study of membrane proteins and studies of HIV and viral proteases. His group solved high resolution structures of the HIV-1 integrase core domain and a two-domain catalytic core plus C-terminal domain fragment that provide a structural foundation for integrase studies in the HARC Center. He also heads the Membrane Protein Expression Center and Center for Structures of Membrane Proteins.
