Dr. Frankel is the Director of the HARC Center. The Frankel lab uses biochemistry, molecular biology and computer modeling to investigate how viral proteins bind to their RNA targets, and has done fundamental work on Tat-TAR and Rev-RRE interactions. Together with collaborators, Dr. Frankel's work contributed to the determination of ARM peptide-RNA complex structures by NMR and of two related bovine viral complexes. His lab has also elucidated novel concepts of flexibility and structural plasticity in the context of RNA-protein complexes.
