Charles Craik to speak at UCSC
February 12, 2008. Dr. Craik will give a seminar titled "Inhibiting the Uninhibitable: Proteases in Infectious Disease and Cancer" at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry of UC Santa Cruz.
Robert Stroud lecture at University of Washington
November 8, 2007. Dr. Stroud will speak on "A Two Billion Year Old Tale of Membrane Transport Proteins."
Gerard Cagney Joins the HARC Center-November 2007
Dr. Cagney joined the HARC Center in November of 2007 as a Visiting Scientist in Nevan Krogan’s lab at UCSF. Dr. Cagney received his PhD from Queens University Belfast in 1994 and since then has worked in industry and academia with a focus on studying protein-protein interactions using arrays, proteomics and mass spectrometry. He was previously the project manager at the Genome Canada Yeast Protein Interaction Project at the University of Toronto and also worked as Director of Proteomics at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He presently holds an appointment as Assistant Professor at University College Dublin.
Charles Craik seminar for MORE Programs Scholars-October 2007
Dr. Craik spoke to MORE Programs Scholars at Cal State Los Angeles in October. The MORE Programs Scholars include undergraduates who participate in several NIH-funded student development initiatives: Minority Access to Research Careers (MARC), Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement (RISE). Also in attendance were students in the NIH Bridges to the Doctorate Program, NIH RISE MS-to-PhD program, the NSF Lewis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) Bridge to the Doctorate Program and NIH Post-baccalaureate Research and Education Program (PREP).

Sept. 13, 2007. Dr. B. Matija Peterlin will give an invited talk at the 14th West Coast Retrovirus Meeting to be held October 11-13 in Palm Springs, California
B. Matija Peterlin co-authors PNAS Paper on Hexim1 Structure
Dr. Peterlin was a co-author on a recent paper by Dames et al. published in PNAS, describing the structure of the Cyclin T binding domain of Hexim1 and molecular bsis for its recognition of P-TEFb
